Education

‪When I get to the Senate in January 2019 the first thing I will do is propose the “National Teachers Tax Reform Act” whereby each public school teacher will get a $25,000 tax deduction meaning the first $25,000 will be free from any federal tax.

The “National Teachers Tax Relief Act” is an alternative to giving teachers a raise on a national level and will help get and keep more good teachers in the teaching profession.

To begin with I believe the United States should lead the world in public education. I also believe the quality of that education should be the same no matter where you live or what your economic status is.

I first entered the political arena n 2002 after reviewing the Clark County School District budget and realizing that salaries for new teachers were set at about $26,000 per year and thinking after deductions were taken out they would be left with about $20,000. A salary that would be very difficult for anyone to live on and most of them would need a second job to survive.

Realizing this I put together a referendum to raise teachers salary by slightly increasing the gaming tax.

More to come
